The most complex thing I have done as of late is hosting this exact site under my own domain on a linux VPS. This project has taken me several extra hours of re-learning various linux sys-admin skills, along with experimenting with both Apache and Nginx for my web server (I went with Nginx!).
I have previously hosted a media server in a somewhat similar fashion, but it was mostly networking work rather than development.
I hope to brush up on my HTML skills and to really dig into JS, CSS, and potentially PHP. I am also taking this class as a chance to get better at hosting a website, as I eventually intend to use this domain for my online dev portfolio.
I have viewed a post on this class's ED forum, and have even made a couple of posts myself.
One of the most interesting fun facts about me is that I am a professionally licensed driver. I currently hold a class-B CDL due to working as a school bus driver.
